[RC] How Long is Your Commute? - heidi larson

My property borders state land and my barn is 100 feet from the house.  So technically I can ride logging roads year round.  I'm an appraiser, my office is 30+ miles away, but I schedule appts. for on the way in and on the way home, so I can deduct my mileage (my company approved this BTW) and I rarely hit any bumper to bumper traffic.  My work schedule is also VERY flexible.  I'm spoiled!  However, I'm not a rainy rider and also have kids in sports, etc. so winter riding is severely limited and I usually let the horses go barefoot in the winter.  The logging roads are mostly hard gravel, so we take it easy on them without shoes and just enjoy the scenery.  I have a nice little 5 mile loop that is only 3/4 on gravel.
