RE: [RC] [RC] Ivermectin, specifically "homeopathic use" - Susan E. Garlinghouse, D.V.M.

>Just a heads up in the foray, here: homeopathic is not the same as herbal use.  Homeopathic use could never create the result of an injured or severely >compromised horse as cited.  The molecules of the original substance--here wormwood--in a homeopathic dose are nil.  It's essentially energy medicine that >works very powerfully IF THE CORRECT REMEDY IS CHOSEN.  If not, no harm; no foul.

Well, I disagree.  Sure there’s harm.  If parasites continue to accumulate, mature and obstruct the GI tract because of lack of control, and an assumption is being made that control has been exerted, there’s plenty of harm.  Just ask the dead horse.  I doubt very much that the death of this horse was caused by an improper dose of wormwood---the problem was that wormwood was chosen at all over a therapeutic with some real data and efficacy behind it.  FWIW, the owners at the time said they’d paid a fair bit of money for a ‘natural horse care expert’ to advise them on the care of their animals.  The natural care expert declined to return phone calls.
