Re: [RC] Question for Dr Garlinghouse.....or anyone who can help enlighten me! - heidiThe only way to see if an equine is getting enough feed is to look at them. What is her body condition score? I believe the archives as a description of body condition score. When we were in WI we had to feed a lot of oil and beet pulp to keep weight on the horses. In Montana, the land of fat horses, we find we need to feed much less. I've seen some of that midwestern hay, too! <g> Seriously, Ed is right--it has to do with the quality of the forage and the feed efficiency of the individual. Many horses do well on little more than high quality forage and perhaps some added vitamins and minerals--others need more help. And the same goes for mules. :-) Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
