[RC] Shoeing barefoot - Sue Walz

I had Raven shod for Tevis with Hoof it plastic shoes. He didn't have the traction he has barefoot. I don't feel that he had the best hoof mechanism either. I had them pulled immediately after I got home. My Strasser trimmer vet was concerned that his toes were shortened. 3 weeks later he overstepped & clipped himself after 20 miles of Santiam Cascade 50. A needless pull after doing Tevis in 18 hrs. Properly trimmed he has never over reached since being barefoot. Shod he always needed over reach boots!
