Re: [RC] [RC] bananas/toxic fruit & veggies - Laney Humphrey

I own, for real Spanish Mustang will have nothing to do with dates! His self preservation instincts are really strong though, and if he were in the middle of a desert and the only thing around to eat was dates, I'll bet he'd eat them. Heck, I've just gotten him to like apples. Might try bananas next.

Dates are marvelous additions to any horse's diet. Google search about them and you will be amazed at what an interesting food they are. But from what I've seen in the US, they are very expensive there. Our horses pig out on dates and we can get cheap mushed dates (agwa) that is used for cooking. But a probiotic is totally different from anything in dates.

Hi all!

Thinking of the movie Hidalgo, what about dried dates? Does anyone know whether or not dates have any nutrient value as far as endurance is concerned? [hoping I can pitch the probiotic I paid over $30 for!!].

Thanks!
Christy
