Re: [RC] hills in Florida? - Truman Prevatt

There seems to be an ongoing fist fight about where the highest point actually is. There is a point near Clearmont that claims to be 345 feet and claims to be the peak. There is a point - Moundon Hill - which I look at out my back door that some claim is the highest. Of course the argument could be settled easily but it goes on.

However, it seems there is a bound between sea level and 100 meters.

No offense Jody, beter check your references again. Swamps are in the south end of the state. The land features of FL are very subtle.

Subtle is a good word <g>. I'm from Florida, and flat is also a good word. This is a description of the lumpy part of the state:

In 1921, Edward W. Bok was spending the winter months in the residential mountain lake community located adjacent to the highest hill of Florida's Lake Wales Ridge, 298 feet above sea level. He enjoyed taking evening walks to the top of "Iron Mountain," among the virgin pines and sandhill scrub, to enjoy Florida's dramatic sunsets and bird life. The idea came to him to preserve this hilltop and create a bird sanctuary - a place of beauty, serenity and peace.
