Re: [RC] Fw: riding up on friend's horses - DESERTRYDR1

Stop letting her go with you.  Manage to find a time to ride when she can't 
go, then talk about the great ride you had that day.  After a while, let slip 
that you would have invited her, but you were afraid that she or her horse was 
going to get kicked because she can't seem to keep him off your horse's butt.  
Then point out a good clinician or riding instructor who can help her learn 
to control and pay attention to her horse.  

Or if you're too nice to exclude her, skip Step 1 and go directly to Step 2.  

Or start telling gory stories while riding about the people you have seen who 
let their horses tailgate and ended up with compound fractures that ended 
their riding career (seen this one) or  badly injured horses or whatever else 
you 
can find on ridecamp that sounds scary enough.  

The real problem here is that she isn't paying attention to her horse.  She's 
letting it follow, she's not Riding her horse, she's a passenger.  jeri
