Re: [RC] Fw: riding up on friend's horses - Laney Humphrey

Be firm, i.e., maybe even what might seem rude in making your feelings known. Point out that it is dangerous to her and her horse. A friend of mine was riding a horse that did the same thing. Because I knew the horse I would on would do it, when it happened, I turned my horse around really quick and rode towards her horse forcing it to back up. I'm not sure who was more surprised, my friend or her horse. We discussed what was going on and agreed to play a game. I'd ride foward say 50 feet, then I'd yell "stop" and stop. Her job was to keep her horse off my horse's butt. If her horse didn't stop fast enough, he had to back up. She has since done quite a bit of Parelli work with the horse and I'm sure her horse is better behaved now.

Hi Everyone and Merry Christmas!

Irish is fat and healthy after $1,000 spent on gastro-gard, etc.! He's definitely a handfullnow, much more spirited and energetic! LOL

I ride with a group of women in endurance and one lady friend of mine continually lets her horse ride up on all of our horses! THis horse will actually bite the rumps of our horses while riding! We have tried being nice to this person, but to no avail! :) She will forget and let her horse ride up on us continually! What do we do? How do we handle this? She has only been riding for a year now...sometimes I want to turn around and whack her horse on the nose. Irish pastures with this horse and is the boss over this horse...I do not want this woman to be kicked by Irish and hurt, nor her horse kicked and injured by Irish. How do we go about convincing this woman to stop letting her horse bite our horses rumps? Any suggestions?

Cherie
