RE: [RC] Horse Color - heidi

Now that I think about it, you're right. My first
inclination was thinking of the one time I had a
chestnut foal that was SO flaxen-footed as a newborn
that the night she was born I thought she had 4 socks.
But, by morning light I could tell she had only one
(and felt rather foolish about it). However, in a
photo -- and not knowing what size or how clear this
APHA photo is -- I guess I can see foal coloration
fooling someone.

Yep, and it is often easier to see the white marking in the first day or
two, and more difficult when the hair begins to fluff a bit. But I've
had that experience at night with newborns, too--thinking there's a lot
more white legs than there turn out to be the next morning in the light
of day! <g>

I'd still be suspicious, though, as this is an auction
horse we're talking about...

Certainly don't want to discount that possibility, either.

Heidi
