[RC] Hacks/bitless/sidepulls etc - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Marirose Six lucky6mule@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== As a trainer & 'have fun' rider, Bitless alternatives can be great, sometimes (some horses/mules), & sometimes not. A good foundation with a bit is the best idea (sounds like most of you have that covered). Sounds like most of you are looking at bitless alternatives for eating/drinking advantages during a ride. I agree, however, my mules can be a bit strong in the first loop, I use a bit then (whatever works for particular horse/mule). The rest of the ride I use a sidepull ( or whichever bitless you prefer)--the edge is off, horse/mule can eat/drink to hearts content. I do have 1 mule who returns to a bit for night in a 100 so that if she bucks it's easier to keep her head up. (Yeah, yeah she can buck in daylight too but I can see better to plan my departure if needed.) Happy Trails!
