[RC] riding with a camera - Julie Fuller

You guys talk about how some of the digital cameras are "too cumbersome" I had to laugh at that! I'm certain quite a few of us are old enough to remember cameras with film. Talk about cumbersome! I once rode 25 miles in the mountains with not one, but TWO 35mm cameras around my NECK! One had a huge telephoto lens, the other was set up for wide angle shots. Weeee!

I wore a large down vest with the cameras safely inside. When a photo op presented itself, I'd RIIPPP the snaps, grab a camera and snap away. I've gotten some awesome shots this way. IMO, you still can't beat a good old fashioned 35mm with high speed film for action shots. I've been lucky to get some decent shots even at a fast trot, or canter. A vest is a really good way to pack things close at hand, and there are some really cool ones out there, made for sportsman, bikers, etc.

I admit, I take MORE pictures with a digital, but I take BETTER shots the old fashioned way. And that telephoto lens is awesome for getting candid shots. (It was the only way I could get decent pictures of my daughter when she was little.... she was an incredible ham if she saw me with a camera in my hand)
