[RC] AHA jr. award--MIA - Campbell, David

Title: AHA jr. award--MIA

Up until this past summer, AHA did not recognize or publish Junior awards at the National Endurance or National Competitive rides. If Ariat published that they would sponsor an award for the top placing junior at the National ride, then Ariat should be contacted for the award, NOT AHA. In the National Endurance and Competitive rides, there were no age categories, each person completed against the other, no matter what the age.

As I understand, AHA may have Junior Awards in the future at the Endurance and Competitive Nationals. However, the juniors do have their own National competitions, in which adults cannot participate.

I haven’t seen any comments on ride-camp about the changes in the sweepstakes program. There will NOT be any sweepstakes awards (money) given in Regional or National Endurance or Competitive trail rides. The sweepstakes awards will only be given in the point system, which you have to pay $100.00 each year to be in the program. The URL is http://www.arabianhorses.org/membership/convention/2005/SweepstakesBODNov05-version6_files/frame.htm

Look at slide 16, no sweepstakes money at the local, regional or national level.

So all you endurance riders out there with sweepstake horses, to get sweepstakes money, you now have to have trailer races, instead endurance and competitive trail rides.
