Re: [RC] [RC] Boots and vetting in - long - Nancy Mitts

To furthur muddy the waters: I have seen more than one instance where a horse loses a shoe on a loop, the rider does not have a boot, and the horse is tender when presented to the vet. They still have time to pass the check so they are allowed (even advised by the vet) to go put a boot on. If they are sound in the boot they are allowed to continue. Although many choose not to, some do and it is their option.

To be honest I never gave a lot of thought to the problem presented with the Epics because they cover flesh that can become rubbed. With regular Easy Boots it was only common sense that the horse should be vetted in (and completed) the way they were during the ride, including boots. Most vets ask for interference boots to be removed, though.
I would think it would be simple enough to allow the horse to present in the boots and then loosen the gaiter to observe the flesh for rubs? And total removal after trotting for a BC exam wouold only take an extra couple minutes.
