Re: [RC] Saddles by Gov't Committee - Sky Ranch

And don't forget the umbrella, airbag, and passive restraint seat belts...
I saw a cartoon back in the '70's, when OSHA was in high gear, that
beautifully illustrated potential OSHA regs applied to horseback riding.

Just what we don't need, more government intrusion in our private lives.
Remember 'pursuit of happiness?' Never forget it.

Wow, why didn't I think of this! The FTC in charge of saddle design! Leads
one to wonder what kind of mind came up with this glorious concept.

It by far outreaches the attempts of Cosequin to establish a monopoly via
goverenment regulation, so you can't fault the ambition behind it. And
imagine the kind of regulated saddle design the FTC would come up with. A
kind of "one design fits all" approach--a saddle that will work with horses,
donkeys, elephants and camels, perhaps. Or, for safety purposes, an ejection
design that would have the rider safely parachuting to earth as the horse
falls into a ravine or breaks down on the racetrack. Save those riders from
themselves!

Just think, for a mere $50,000 you could have a saddle that does
everything--maybe a hot walker/washer/dryer built in. With a little tag
saying "FTC approved, do not remove on pain of death or dismemberment".

Let's all join Saddletech in designing the perfect government-regulated
saddle--what features would you DEMAND be included? I, for one, would
require reclining capability, with beer can holders. And a quick-release AK
47 holster for the settling the Trail Rage disputes that seem to be an
overwhelming problem in the sport these days.
