[RC] Stifle Problem - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Good morning,

I can't remember who the original poster was concerning the stifle problem, but
here's some "for what it's worth" information for correcting this issue.

Shoulder-in, done in-hand, and beginning with the walk and eventually
progressing to shoulder-in at the trot will develop a very strong and flexible
hindleg (all three joints and assoicated tendons, ligiments, etc.)gymnastically
and naturally without the eventual side effects of surgery. As everything
tightens up, the stifle issue will disappear simultaneously with the
"crookedness" issue (the real problem source). The work-in-hand will allow you
to straighten and stengthen the horse without the burden of the rider or the
trauma of the scalpel.

If you are unfamiliar with work-in-hand, I can refer you to the book,
"Schooling Horses In Hand" by Richard Hinrichs. It's current, easily
obtainable, and he does an excellent job of explaining the why's and how's of
the work-in-hand foundation.

Enjoy the ride,

Dennis

P.S.

This is also a very real solution for Irish and his hindleg, interference
problems. Not a quick fix but a permanent one. IMHO biomechanical issues are
best corrected with knowledgeable horsemanship as opposed to veterinary
medicine...permanently and in the long run.
