Personally speaking, I had some difficulty when I first started riding my rescue "Tally". When I took him to his first ride, I'm sure all the other participants thought I was a bit, shall I say 'confused'. He was a maniac (ok, so we did 30 miles a week to train for a 25 miler with the objective of finishing last). Throughout the day everyone kept hearing me firmly stating "Tally - whoa" (pronounced exactly the same as 'Tally - ho') to my horse . . . about 50 times. . . My kids loved it even better when they found out his 'real' (registered) name: Metallica. "Heh mom, you went from being a 'confused blonde' to 'endurance riding a rock star'" Nice kids - yeah??!!! I LOVE your horse's name!!! Just wish I could be at a ride when they announce your finish!! Congrats!
