I've been testing new gaiters that are softer and have a rolled edge. They are great and will be available soon. Hurry up, hurry up! I am waiting on those new gaiters on my next set for the thin-skinned, minimal hair mares!!! The mustang is a tougher, coarser haired gal. The standard gaiters seemed to work fine on her with no signs of any rubbing....keep in mind I picked out all the stitching at the top edge of the gaiter, removed the trim roll at the bottom of the gaiter, and smashed down the side plates. The only things I have to add that will make using the boots easier to put on is that I have found it to be extremely helpful to wet the gaiters down the night before, fold them back as far as you can get them and let them dry in that position. It also helps to use the boots a time or two before using them on an endurance ride, they get easier to put on after they are used. Yep, they do seem to go on easier once broken in....my trick now is to put them in the sun for five minutes or so, they go on easier when warm I've been using the new gaiters on training rides on my other horses without vetwrap, and they have had no rubbing at all.
