[RC] riding in tennis shoes - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I have recently returned to riding in tennis shoes. I did this as a teenager
'cause I didn't have boots, now I find it much more comfortable. I was
wondering as I am going to be trying out english style saddles for the first
time if any of the quick release stirrups have been shown to be safer? What
about those stirrup cages I have seen on many websites? The english stirrups
seem much thinner than stock western and I am concerned about slippage.

I also saw some posts, more than a year ago, about avoiding elastic girths with
horses that have difficulty with saddles sliding back and forth. I can't
remember the details but could use any advice as this is a major concern for my
mare and I want to avoid having to go with breast collar in front and crupper
in back to keep the saddle in place. How can I choose a girth that will help
stablize an english(dressage) saddle on her? I will be getting professional
help with the fitting of the saddle.

Thanks in advance, Cyndi
