Regarding Cosequin, It is the only Glucosamine HCL/Chondroitin Sulfate Product
which has been scientifically tested and proven to be safe, absorbable and
efficatious. The results of these university studies have been published in
refereed scientific journals. No other joint supplement on the market can make
this claim. It has also been shown that it meets label claim for the listed
ingredients. Joint nutracuticals do not fall under FDA scrutiny, and there are
no govt. regulations in place insuring they meet their label claim. In an
independent University study, it was shown that less than 80 percent of the
joint nutraceuticals studied met label claim.
I would suggest going to the FDA website and read their recommendations on
purchasing nutraceuticals.

If you are interested in taking Cosequin for humans, the options are Cosequin
DS, (which is the dog form - I wouldn't recommend the chewable) or Cosamin DS,
(the human form, which is identical to Cosequin DS and differs in packaging
only).

The HCL salt of glucosamine is much more readily available than the sulfate
form, although it has been shown, both are absorbed. It requires somewhere in
the neighborhood of 40% more of the glucosamine sulfate to reach the same
levels in the blood stream. Meanwhile to accomplish this you are adding more
salt to your diet.

Remember, no other joint supplement has the published scientific research for
their specific products. Most companies are basing their claims on the
Cosequin research and if you ask them for their research, they will tell you
they will get back to you.
