[RC] pasture eaters - L gin

Had goats too, pygmies about 40$ each--at least in Ga. Boers are bred for meat and were an investment a couple years ago.-- I found the goats annoying aroundthe horses. They do get out of fences...........

I prefer geese. Excellent watch dogs.... If you get gentle breeds like Pilgrims or the fancier Tufted romans Or the curly featherd Sebastpols (sp)-- We let ours roam free and put them up at night--when we stopped putting them up at night the raccoons got them(when we only had two).We didn't have to cut our yard for 2 summers with them .They only left an occasional weed. They would occasioanlly choose a human they didn't like and go after them.... very amusing.... ;0)
One bonded with our white lab and used to fly with her when she ran and they even got out one day and ran away together. I miss my geese......... may get some at the new place. Boy did they let you know when something was around at night.....the Romans used to use them for alarm systems.........Can't fool a goose and they won't quietly go away either.......
The above breeds won't fly away either.... other breeds can be alot more aggressive like the Africans..... You do need a fence that will keep dogs and coyotes out....daytime anyway. We had fieldfence. But if you have a shed or covered pen at night they are fine......If you get them as babies they will bond with you andyou can even tame older ones.......
