[RC] Increase in ride fees - Michael Maul

From a previous post

"rider fees will be up $1.00 per rider for a total of $5.00 plus the $1.00 drug testing fee in all states except CA. "

I believe AERC is responsible for only $1 of the suggested increase of
$5. The rest of the increase is necessary so that ride managers can
still afford to put on rides - but so far as I can tell - this isn't
caused by AERC.

I pay more at the grocery store, more at Walmart, more at the gas station every year. Ride managers costs go up too and I certainly support them raising their fees. They do a lot for us in just putting on a ride.

But placing the responsibility on AERC for the whole $5 increase doesn't seem like the actual situation.

For the rides I go to, I budget about $210/ ride day for the cost including entry and fuel. I don't add anything for wear on the tires, truck, and trailer although they are costs too.

Adding $1 to $210 seems so small that things like paying 2 cents more per gallon at one gas station on the way to the ride is far more important than this.

So I'm very supportive of ride managers adding an increment to the entry fee we pay for rides. I just want the allocation of that increase placed where it belongs - mostly on the increases in all the costs we - and ride managers - see in the rest of our expenses.

Mike
