[RC] Bridge pads - Jennifer Fleet

Has anybody used a "bridge pad" with success? They are pads that are made to
fill in the space under the saddle if your horse has a "dippy" back to allow
for more even pressure distribution along the length of the tree.

My saddle was custom made for my horse two years ago, but it bridges just a
little. Like maybe 1/2" of space - I tried 3/4" shims made by Dave Genadek and
they were too thick - only the shims made contact, not the rest of the tree.

I don't have much of a problem with sore back (I ride NATRC, so I'd know!),
unless I do a lot of hills...then my horse gets a tender loin sometimes - so
I'm thinking that filling the void in the middle might take pressure of his
loin.

Cashel makes a bridge pad to use under a regular pad that I can get in 1/2"
thickness, and so does this gaited horse site: www.gaitsofgold.com (it's called
the "Have A Heart Pad"). Their pad has adjustable thicknesses and can actually
be velcro'd to the top of your regular pad so it doesn't move around.

Anybody use either of these to help a slightly bridging saddle?

Thanks,
Jennifer
