[RC] Trailer "ball" rating - Jonni

Is this a bumper pull trailer????????? I don't think I can remember seeing a
6 horse pull behind (aka bumper pull) That would be an awful heavy load in a
pull behind (bumper pull)

As I mentioned before. The ball itself will usually have a rating stamped on
the top of it. My pull behind ball is a special heat treated 2 5/16 Putman,
rated to 30,000 pounds. (I'd never want to pull that much in a pull behind,
that's for sure!) . My flip down gooseneck hitch says it is rated to
25,000 pounds, with a 5000 tongue rating. It also has a special heat treated
ball, with extra large shank. I've never used it, and am just not familiar
with ball sizes on gooseneck trailers. Glancing at some of the new trailer
web sites, they use 2 5/16 on their goosenecks, so I am guessing that is
standard.

I am in the process of buying a new stock trailer, same length but 6"
taller inside, and it also has a 2" ball. The GVW on the new trailer is
18,000 - 2000 more than this one and the same size ball.<<<

I'll take your word for it, but again, the rating is only as much as the
lowest rated component. If the ball is stamped 5000 pounds, then that is
what your rating is.
