Yup! Any endurance ride has very high fixed costs. When we did a ride in the MW (which by the way is much less costly) we could break even at 70 entries (for the whole weekend, 2LD, 2CTR, 1 endurance ride) at 98 we could give $1000 to the park have a couple hundred left over to pay for 3-400 hours of work.


Note that in the West the ride entry usually includes a complete meal, meals on trail, thousands of gallons of water hauled out to the trail, hay at away vet checks etc, in the MW the RM only provides main dish for one meal, some coffee in AM, and most likely will not need to provide water on trail.
