Re: [RC] Good Dog - Chris Paus

Diane, I'm so sorry your lost your dog. How sad.

Our Ridgeback cross disappeared in May 2004.  It left such a huge hole in our hearts.

I have to tell you, though, my best riding buddy, truck riding buddy and camping buddy is my little found Aussie. I admit that until she came trotting up the driveway, Aussies weren't even on my radar screen as a dog I wanted to have. But she chose me and I've never regretted it.

She's smart as can be. Loves to ride in the truck. She's gone as far as Texas with me when I delivered a horse to a buyer. She doesn't wander off if we make a pit stop. She's very obedient, and she can go all day with me when I ride my horse.

The only bad thing is the stick tights that stick to her long fur.

i'm sold on Aussies now.

I also have an aged Lab who probably isn't long for this world. He used to be my horse and truck buddy.

I lost my boxer of several years (Ramen) in late July. My plan is to find a new dog in the spring. I need some ideas for breeds that are really good around horses, grandkids and traveling to endurance rides. I know any breed as well as pound dogs can be good but I guess I just need to hear some success stories!  Sure do miss my ole guy so I'm hoping by spring I'll be ready for someone new.

thanks,
