[RC] Getting to rides - part 3 - Michael Maul

Here's a table that illustrates fuel economy according to the studies.

"#  Stay within posted speed limits. The faster you drive, the more fuel
you use. For example, driving at 65 miles per hour (mph), rather than 55
mph, increases fuel consumption by 20 percent. Driving at 75 mph, rather
than 65 mph, increases fuel consumption by another 25 percent."

If you are getting 20 mpg at 55 mph - then

Mpg     Speed
20.0    55
16.7    65
13.3    75

I've also heard for diesels that the max miles per gallon is at about 2,000 rpm. I have not seen that in any studies and it would not apply to overdrive.
