Re: [RC] tending to pastures - roxanne kopp

Kathy-

Look into the DR Field and Brush mower, made in Vermont. It is a walk behind brush hog and it is self propelled. Very easy to manuver and maintain. We have owned one for at least 15 years now. It just keeps on going and is still easy to start and mows great. It will cut through very high grass and weeds and up to about a 1 inch thick brush. I don't have a catelog handy to give a web site but I know they are still made. Not sure what the current price is, ours was around $1200 years ago and that was with the commercial heavy duty engine. My son just used ours to mow our dry lot today. It truly has been one of our best purchases.
But, it is not fast and I would not want to have to mow 5 acres with it. It will handle the weeds and rough stuff but I wouldn't consider it a lawn mower.
