On the satellite map. The cloud cover stretches from Cuba to Louisiana. That longer North to South than the state of Florida. It's a big ugly sucker.

Katrina is frightening indeed. I can tell you that eastbound I-10 in Mobile is bumper to bumper and moving very slowly, my guess is around 20-30mph through downtown nearing the tunnel, so explore northern routes of escape if possible, and/or secondary roads if you know your way around. I saw the I-10 overpasses just now as I was downtown helping clients shut down computer networks and move servers to high ground.
