[RC] CTR...Last words - Brian & Sara Minsk

Ok. This is the last time I am going to respond to this topic! LOL

I think my original post was quite positive. I said that I thought everyone involved in the CTR was wonderful but I didn't feel like it was for me (and I gave my reasons). It is my opinion and I was just sharing my thoughts.

In the meantime, the topic of horsemanship came up. I honestly couldn't understand what people were trying to say about horsemanship and CTRs. I just couldn't see it.

Well, it was pointed out to me that the CTR I went too and all of the ones in our region are sponsored by a group called ECTRA. Here, only the horse is judged.

Apparently, other CTRs in different regions judge things like riding skills, tack/equipment, etc. I guess the rider then gets a card back explaining the things they need to work on and their strengths. I had know idea that was the case because our CTRs do not judge that way. Thus, I was baffled about all of the comments. From my point of view, both endurance and ECTRA rides judge the condition of the horse and not horsemanship so I just couldn't figure out why CTR people were saying I would learn better horsemanship.

So there you have it. The mystery has been explained! *smile*

Happy riding,

Sara
