This is exactly what I did and it did take almost 30 minutes but he walked right across. (Lots of praise and treats) then turned around to go through again and he did do his awkward jump. Went back across two more times and was still very hesitant but a real trooper. Thank you everyone!!

Caveat: None of these hints may work if your horse is really
resistant or frightened but they can make a big difference if your
horse is sort of on the fence about whether or not to cross.
