If riding correctly means not hurting one's knees, then I have been doing something  very wrong for 11,000 miles !!!!!!  Because  my knees still hurt.   My child says that I flop all over the place.  Oh well, there are always lessons to be taken.  :))   And as far as argueing(sp).... my daddy always told me... I would argue with a fence post.... and so will Joni. and My MOTHER.

I put off doing a 100 for a long time because though I wanted to do it
myself, I was afraid my horse would hate me. Once I did it I really
regretted having wasted those years not doing them. Think of an endurance
ride as a HIKE, not a run. To the horses, it's more like hiking. You
know, walking 3 miles a day seems like plenty for me but if I need to I
can just keep walking all day. That's pretty much how it seems to affect
them once they're conditioned.

The good thing about making yourself do a 100 is that you can ride wrong,
or inefficiently, and last through a 25. Then you just keep doing it. But
to ride a 100 you will try harder to use your body right. I know I have
improved a lot because I rode farther. I had been riding the way I rode
for years but doing 100 changed me. My knees used to hurt a lot. I talked
about it a lot. Lately, they're not bothering me. If I'd learned to ride
efficiently sooner, I might not have done so much damage in the first
place.
