RE: [RC] tension headaches, other aches and pains while riding - Ranelle RubinTitle: MessageIs
this horse traveling "in frame"??? Our wonderful Casey (who is now in Japan on
Mr Hasume's ranch) was such a guy. He was given to us because his owner did not
know how to make him comfortable. He was traveling with his head straight up,
thrusting his front end out to compensate for the fact that his rear end was not
engaged. I put him in a Myler bit to encourage him to bend at the poll,
rode him in draw reins for a few months and encouraged him to move into the bit
and voila! he was as smooth as molasses.. Finished Tevis 23rd and looked fresh
as could be the next day...
If you
don't know, take a lesson at a good English barn or have someone you trust
occupy you on the trail and evaluate how he moves. Casey was only like that at
moderate speeds and particularly around other horses.'
Good
luck...
Ranelle
