[RC] Long Distance Transport AZ/CA - sindy mccosker

We will be picking up a new horse this weekend 640 miles from our home. We are driving from Sacramento to Blythe, CA to meet the seller who is coming from Tucson, AZ.

He is a 2 yr old Appaloosa. He has all his vaccines and paper work done. He is a quiet well mannered young man, but this is his first trip away from home.

We will be transporting him in our 3 horse stock trailer. It has very good ventilation, but isn't air-ride smooth. I tried to talk my husband into a new gooseneck, but he didn't go for it. LOL

We are thinking about keeping him loose instead of tying him and stopping every 3 hours to let him rest from the road vibration.

Any other tips for this long trip that can help me keep him healthy and safe?

Also...any good spots to stop and rest/eat along I-5 or I-10? Anywhere we should avoid?
