Re: [RC] 100 Mile One Day Rides - Truman Prevatt

Personally, I wouldn't bother with a 75, I'd do the 100. If I didn't want to do the 100, I'd do the 50. There is little advantage that I see in a 75.

Back when I was getting started, I told mayself when my mare had 500 miles and could do a 6 hour 50 and still be rip roaring ready to go - then we would enter the next 100 we could get to. In Jan of '94 we galloped a 17 mile third loop to catch about 10 horses, she came down quickly and we left 10 minutes before the rest of them to trot in second at 5:30 and she was rip roaring ready to go back out.

The next ride we did was the Far Our Forest 100 in Feb.

If you say you want to do it, quit talking about it and Just Do It.

P.S. Given the two mileages on our event, there are consistently twice as many 75 mile riders as 100 mile riders. (They like finishing before dark.) Joe, I don't think you have ridden Swanton Pacific yet, have you?????

Not yet, I hope to soon -- it's on my "Must Do" list. And you can bet when I get there I'll do the 100.
