Re: [RC] Eastern High Sierra Classic - victoria thompson

Nix on hwy 4 as well as Sonora Pass. Both way too narrow and twisty for horse trailers. Before heading out over Tioga you may want to call highway patrol because Yosemite is thinking of not allowing through traffic like that anymore. They're trying to limit the number of cars in the park period (not just the valley floor) and one of the ways to do this is to dis-allow through traffic. How do they check on this you ask? Reservations. I was in Yosemite for a week last summer and this was being bandied about by the forest service with a great deal of enthusiasm. Seems the greatest majority of traffic accidents in the park are caused by those people just passing through and driving like bats out of Hell to get to the other side. Personally, coming from the Bay Area, I'd take 80 (or is it 880 now) to 50 to 395. Well populated freeways all the way, so if any problems arise help is not far off.

But then I haven't lived in NorCal since '81.
