well one thing you might do is make the BARN less attractive.
Feed him in the round pen or tied to trailer. Do lots of intense
ground work right in the barn. --backing all over the place, sidepass
away from your pressure. etc etc. Then take him out for a nice
break to munch grass out of sight of the barn. NHwise I think
its supposed to help a lot if you can stall them away from all
other horses so that YOU are their company, not practical a lot
of the time, but you should isolate him as much as you can right
now so that getting worked is getting to have your company more
than leaving the company of his horse buddies. --You might try
a bareback buddy or similar system to mount w/o saddle slipping?

Good luck,
Teresa

Is there a way to fix this without riding through the tantrum, or do I just
need to find a trainer to do it for me, then get back to business?? In the
meantime, we are going to start taking long working walks with me on the
ground, get out of sight of the barn! all by ourselves! and eat grass. Then
come back to the barn and work our tootsies off. (in the round pen at the
moment....getting bored with circles).>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
