RE: [RC] [RC] Stallion question - Jim Holland

Actually, it may or not be. Read your policy, and if you can't figure it
out, call the company and ASK, giving them a "for instance". A good agent
who knows your situation and advises accordingly is invaluable.

Some years ago I was boarding a horse in a neighbor's pasture down the road.
The horse accidentally stepped on his collie and broke his leg in three
places. My homeowners insurance paid all bills in full...including lots of
surgery for the dog's leg.

IMHO, it's a waste of money to pay for homeowner's insurance that's "cheap"
because of so many exclusions. A liability cap over ALL your insurance (mine
is a million dollars) is not very expensive and well worth it.

Depends on whether you're buying homeowner's insurance only because you
"have to have it" for some reason or to really protect you.

No... Many/most homeowner's policies exclude livestock. Sad fact, but go
check policies and see!> >

Equine liability is separate insurance, above and beyond homeowners
insurance and different than 'normal' ranching insurance. - and, not
everyone has insurance.
