[RC] Truck opinions wanted - Simrat Khalsa

I am considering an older truck to haul to rides (2 horse bumper pull with maybe a camper in the future), haul hay, etc. I would be happy to hear from anyone who might have experience with this era of Ford truck...

1985 F250 XLT king cab long bed, 460/7.5 liter engine, automatic transmission, 2 WD, AC, running boards, 119,874 miles, frame mounted bumper pull hitch (I don't know what class, but it has a large receiver and he pulled 6,000 lbs). The owner says that it runs well, but needs new brakes. He has only had it for a year.

I would take it to my mechanic to be checked over to see what work it might need. He wasn't crazy about the idea of a carburetor instead of fuel injection. It would be my first truck and is in my budget.... :-) It might be used only for hauling though as the gas mileage is half that of my van.

Opinions?

Thanks!
Simrat :)
