Funny - I was reading these posts thinking "well that rules out CTR for my mare". She stands in the pasture at *maybe* 40 and the last time I had her out on trail she was at 80 saddling up - good thing we vet in the night before LOL.

My mentor at CTR said, "You can make an endurance horse, but competitive (CTR) horses are born." His message was that if you are looking for a CTR horse, choose naturally very low pulse, and calm disposition along with all those other things that make good distance horses.
