RE: [RC] Calvary Question? - heidi

What is riding Calvary in an endurance ride? I have never seen that term
before. Is it only at the OD ride?

Well, riding "calvary" means I pray a lot. ;-) (As in, at the 50-mile
point, "Oh, God, why did I enter the 75?")

Riding "cavalry" is likely what you meant, though. It means doing the
whole ride not only without a crew, but without assistance from anyone,
without sending stuff ahead to vet checks, and with only the natural
things that are available. You carry anything you want to eat for the
entire ride, you carry grain if you want to feed it at vet checks, etc.
(Sometimes you call on "calvary" then, too...)

Heidi
