Re: [RC] rough trot - Karen Sullivan

Gosh, let him grow up first before riding him!!!  Are his knees even closed?  I know it's a trend to start Quarter Horses at age two, and some even earlier.....but so much potential for damange, physical AND mental.  So many other things you can do such as ponying out, trailering all over town, tying different places, ground manners, verbal commands.
I'm not even a fan of lunging much at that age, again, too much torque on growing joints....this subject came up some months ago about when the joints mature in different breeds.....and the back is one of the last areas to mature....

Subject: [RC] rough trot

Does anyone here have any ideas for a very ROUGH trotting quarter horse?  He's 2, and we're just starting, doing a lot of bending, circling to try to round him out.  But he's so rough you can hardly get yourself thru the excercise, any ideas????

Thanks much,
Lori
