Re: [RC] LQ or camper? - Glenda R. Snodgrass

I think a big question to answer is how often you will go camping without the horses. The camper + BP is much more versatile in this respect, but if you only ever camp with horses (like me) then I think a GN is the better solution.

I used to sleep in the bed of the truck under a camper shell, towing a 2H BP. I recently bought my first GN, a 2H SL with 8' dressing room (no LQ), a 16' box, very easy to pull and easy to maneuver. It feels so much more stable on the road than my bumper pull ever did, much less affected by semis roaring past me on the interstate. Hitching up is a breeze, sooooo much easier than putting the camper shell on the truck and then hitching up the BP. I want to go camping every weekend now! :)

I particularly like having a walk-thru door from dressing room to the horsebox, which gives me that extra "living space" when needed. It's nice to put my porta-pottie in there, storage space for feed and buckets, room to hang wet things, and I can set up chairs and cooking etc. in there when it rains and nothing can be done outside (gotta get an awning on the trailer next!).
