Hi Kim,

Giving injections in the top of the "butt" is not a good idea, as an
abscess there is very difficult to drain.  However, using the back of
the  gaskin, in the soft muscle tissue underneath the point of buttock,
about a  third of the way down between the tail and the hock, is
great...

Um, Lari, do you mean the back of the thigh?  What you say is true of the
back of the thigh (although it is still easier to use the chest, per
Susan's post), but the gaskin is the bulgy little muscle on the side of
the hind leg, below the stifle and above and in front of the hock.  If you
injected the "back" of that, you'd be right in the Achilles tendon...
