I will always try to avoid conflict with an ATV and get out of their way.  
However, (don't you love "howevers") I feel strongly that the ATV rider has an 
equal obligation to not go so roaring fast that they cannot stop quickly, or 
are so engrossed in "their" own world that they do not notice a horse until 
they are on top of the horse's rump.  I have met a lot of really nice ATV 
riders, but I am not a lover of that particular sport.  Especially when they 
trespass on my private property, scare the holy hanna out of one of my horses 
and he goes through a board rail.
