RE: [RC] [RC] Rider weight - Laurie Durgin

That is because the average rider is 40-70 something...WE ....
just don't want to tote 40 lb saddles around, and take them off and on , then you got the water bottle weight, the saddle pads, the emergency kits, easyboots, raingear, etc.
We also don't want to clean anything (in my case I am selling my home to get one easier to care for!) so we get biothane, we dont' want to chaff raw, so we get the lycra.....
We know we need to save our strength for arguments with our horse ;0)
It's all about priorites.....and we are glutens for time with our horses.....

I am a lurker and got quite a chuckle out of this statement...

<Snip> I submit that 10 lbs ain't gonna make a whole lot of difference to ANY horse, big or small. <snip>

Am I on the wrong list? Isn't this the group who is always looking for lighter equipment?! I think it is quite interesting that so many folks consider their horses wellbeing more than their own! Nothing wrong mind you with considering your horses wellbeing. But wouldn't it also be in our horses best interest if we were in the best shape possible?

Food for thought....
