[RC] Rider Weight, Saddle weight - Mike Sofen

I know many riders who ride in a heavy saddle and carry enough gear to
outfit an entire Eskimo tribe. They could easily "lose" 10 pounds without
even exercising, just by jettisoning some of that garbage.

Then, of course, since they KNEW they'd just "lost" 10 pounds, they'd go on
the Twinkie/Oprah diet and add 10 pounds to their waistline...

As a rider right at the upper edge of middleweight (and wanting to stay
one), I like having that boundary to remind me to only add butter to my
popcorn every so often, not every night...

Mike
Ps: At the recent 20 Mule Team ride , my entire tack set weighed 27 pounds,
including empty Camelback and water bottle, front saddle pack. I was THREE
pounds under the 210 lb HW limit...
