Re: [RC] Important Things in an LQ Trailer - Laney Humphrey

Do you mean that you have one more stall than horses (i.e, 3 for hauling 2 horses) plus another stall as a mid-tack?
Laney

Here is what I found after buying our (happily, I have
them):

1) A mid-tack is essential. Gives you a place to
store everything and it is not in the LQ (especially
important to store stinky blankets and pads after a
ride). Doubles as a mud room (only if you get a door
from the mid-tack into the bathroom. This is really
nice if you are muddy or soaked. You can strip in the
tack room and go right in and shower.

2) 1 stall more than you plan to carry horses. If you
regularly haul 2 horses, then get a 3 horse trailer. This is the spot where you put your portable corral,
hay, shavings and everything else that can't or
shouldn't go in the mid-tack.

3) Awning (actually 2 - one on each side). One is for
you, so you can enjoy outside, even if it is pouring
or very sunny. The second on the other side is
protection for your horse.

4) A generator. The ones that come with the trailer
are nice, but expensive. We bought a cheap one from
Home Depot, that works, but is noisy. We are getting a
quieter Honda generator this year, at 1/2 the cost of
the dealer installed one. They are so quiet that you
can put them under the gooseneck and run them all
night.

5) A corner water tank. The water tanks that come
with the trailer will only give you enough water for
you. We bought a 35 gallon corner tank from Country
Supply for $100 plus shipping of about $25. You can
get the same tank for the same price at Valley Vet. They come in two sizes: 25 and 35 gallons. Get the
bigger one.
