I have always understood that the term technical refers to the difficulty of
the trail, such as narrow, steep, tricky obstacles, etc.  Such a trail would
require the horse be very trail savvy, surefooted and careful.

When you use the term "technical" in describing a ride, what do you mean?
Does this refer to degree of difficulty, ie: rocky hills, maybe, or trail
configuration?
