This restriction was removed from the rules at the midyear board meeting this year. At this point, there is no rule which restricts a rider from entering both (actually, all three) of the sanctioned events at one time. There WAS a rule which prohibited this. That rule was removed 5 months ago??

The term "Pioneer" describes an AERC awards program. It is incorrect to relate that term with the process by which rides are sanctioned. Whereas the term "multi-day" is referenced in the rules as a sequence of rides of 3 days and 155+ miles which requires a special process of sanctioning.

AERC does not sanction Pioneer rides.

AERC does sanction multi-day rides.

AERC has an awards program which is associated with multi-day rides.

For example, the board could vote to change the Pioneer awards program to cover a sequence of 2 days of at least 50 miles each. That would not require a change to the rules, only a change to the awards system.

The board could change the process of special sanctioning, changing the threshold to 4 days, or 2 days, or getting rid of the veto power currently in place. While it would require a rules change to do so, it would not automatically change the awards system. They are two seperate things.
