Just wanted to forward along this footnote. After the seniors race on
thursday, there was a juniors race. Same trail, only a bit shorter (60km
I think). rather than mix the juniors with the seniors (and require a
sponsor), the approach is a separate race. I think Alyx Luck did this a
few years ago?  

It's a  much older culture (of the horse) and differences are to be
expected,  + certainly should be respected. Although we may think we
have evolved "past" certain things, really we are just
following a different trail. The common thread, that being the horse and
the human/horse bond, while expressed differently, is still there.

I'm thinking the way the Sheiks became Sheiks was that their
great-great-great-great...grand dads had the fastest horses. And they
likely lived in the tent with the family.
